If your're a true IT geek, read the license aggrement, and click Yes…or No if you want to leave the install. Here, you'll get a lovely welcom screen, so click Next.A standard install will automatically use Sybase. Also, you'll only get prompted to install on an Oracle database if you do a custom. If you choose a custom install, you'll receive some extra steps in the wizard, that initially you may be thankful for, such as where to place the reports and forms folders, as well as what to name your database server. I would recomend to everyone to do a "Custom" install, just to get familiar with what Primavera is going to do for you. Choose the "Standard" or "Custom" install.

Choose "Install on Single Computer." (Or, if stated before, you want to run on multiple, you can select "Install on Multiple computers." We'll have a seperate section to do that later.).Choose "Install Expedition Professional.".To bad they don't do an 'autorun', so instead you'll have to go to your CD rom drive, and double-click on the setup.exe file. Insert the Expedition Application CD into the drive.Thank goodness I'll never get that many on mine! This approach may be neccesary if you have 100's of users in your database daily. Although this topic says "single server," you can install the database (Sybase) on one server, and the web application server (JBoss and Tomcat) on another. With my experience, this is what I chose, with my company, and our sister company location. You can read more here…(FUTURE LINK) Multiple user install on a single server (Using Sybase!!!) There were some issues with Expedition V9 serial diskettes, in which you could not read while upgrading to v10. It's taken into account that you already have a disk with the version you are currently using. You may not recieve a serial disk if you box is an "Upgrade" box. The Application CD (has Expedition web server and utilities on it).In the box of goodies you get for installing Expedition, you get: This license to use Sybase is strictly for Expedition only, so don't think you can run other application databases with it and be legal!

The version of Sybase that ships with Expedition Professional (or version 10.1 by some of us) is 7.04. Members are welcome to write about their experiences with installing on Oracle or MS SQL using Contract Manager. So, I'll procede with installing on Sybase. I have not had much experience with installing Expedition on Oracle, nor have I played much with Contract Manager on MS SQL. You also have the option of using Oracle with Expedition, and now with Contract Manager, you have the choice of using Microsoft SQL Server too.

Sybase has been used with the Expedition series for some time now. If your equipment is questionable, or if you would like some information on the requirements for installing Expedition, go here… (FUTURE LINK) New install using Sybase Database No doubt, Expedition has it's requirements too. With any install, there are requirements that must be met.
